Le Collins English dictionary vient de révéler le mot le plus utilisé de l’année 2019: il s’agit de “climate strike” ou grève climatique en français.

The Collins English dictionary has just revealed the most frequently used word of 2019. It is “climate strike” or grève climatique in French.

Climate Strike désigne, « une forme de protestation dans laquelle des personnes s’absentent du circuit éducatif ou professionnel pour se joindre à des manifestations réclamant des mesures pour lutter contre le changement climatique. »

Climate Strike refers to “a form of protest whereby people take time away from education or work to join demonstrations demanding measures to fight against climate change.

On est d’accord sur le fait qu’une langue n’a pas forcément le pouvoir de changer le monde, mais en même temps elle permet au moins de rendre compte de ses évolutions.

We agree that a language does not necessarily have the power to change the world, but at the same time, it at least allows us to account for or report on trends.

FRENCH LEAVING CERT REVISION COURSES 

If you would be interested in attending one of our French Leaving Cert Revision courses, please follow the link below for more information. All of our monthly courses take place from September to May and are held in Mary Immaculate College, Limerick. Our Courses begin at 1pm and ends at 5pm. The cost is €60 and includes a 30 page booklet with exclusive French Notes content. During our revision courses, students learn how to write opinion pieces, Diary entries and/or the narrative (récit),   learn active listening methodology, practice speaking and reading French comprehensions. They also do Translation exercises and study a specific area of grammar.
