This worksheet is to be used in conjunction with the 4th Reading Comprehension from the 2018 Ordinary Level Leaving Cert past paper. It is designed to help students work through the exam papers, and interact with verbs and vocabulary, after they have answered the questions set by the State Exam Commission.

Jean Tremblez, a police inspector, is summoned to an urgent meeting with his superior, Commissaire Espic.
Section 1.
La petite ville de Montélimar dort paisiblement. Dans une petite maison peinte en blanc, tout est calme. Soudain, le téléphone sonne – Dring…dring…dring… L’inspecteur Jean Tremblez est au lit. La sonnerie du téléphone le tire d’un sommeil profond. Il ouvre un œil et prend l’appareil. Il entend une voix impatiente : « Allô ! J. T. ? » « Allô ! Oui. C’est moi. » Il regarde sa montre : 5h10 ! Il se passe quelque chose de très grave ! Il n’a pas beaucoup dormi. « Je suis désolé de vous réveiller si tôt, mais…une affaire urgente…Pouvez‐vous venir immédiatement ? » « J’arrive dans vingt minutes, Commissaire. » « Très bien. Je vous attends. »

Section 2
Jean sort de son lit, entre dans la salle de bains, s’habille vite et sort de chez lui. Il saute dans sa voiture de sport blanche, conduit sur les avenues qui étaient désertes à cette heure matinale et s’arrête devant l’immeuble des services de police. Il entre. Le policier de garde le salue : « Bonjour Inspecteur Tremblez. Il fait du vent ce matin, hein ? » « Bonjour Lavigne. Oui, mais c’est l’hiver. »
